Art Parade Seeking Participants

Eric Repice told me that I needed to post the parade call to entry on my blog so here she goes:

Come one, Come All, to The Funkiest Parade of All.

The People’s Joy Parade

Participate in the Collective Effervescence of Cherokee Street’s Art Parade to be held on the afternoon of this year’s Cinco de

Mayo Celebration, May 2, 2009.

A Call to Entry: We are seeking art parade participants; home made costume makers, street performers (acrobats/clowns), puppeteers, art cars, musicians, bike brigades, floats, moving installation artists, cardboard bricoleurs, dancers, local characters, knights, drag queens, rabble rousers, marching bands, floats, Obamafanatics, Mexican wrestlers, robot makers, Virgin of Guadalupe’s, and any lost members of the Missouri tribe.

We are dreaming of costumes based loosely on the legends, myths, and allegories associated with what Cherokee Street has been, is, and could be.

Come join us in a day of spring time celebration to honor any of the following; the spirit of community on Cherokee St, our favorite Mexican neighborhood, the changing tides of our political forefront, the neighbors you know and don’t know, and/or the resourceful creations of artists.

*Opportunities exist to show costumes at a post parade show or local businesses.
